, keep an eye on the twicker running below. you may see your tweet. romney went right into a call for north american energy self-sufficiently, singling out coal as an endangered species under obama. listen. >> i like coal. i want to make sure we can continue to burn clean coal. people in the coal industry feel like it's getting crushed by your policies. >> lots of bozos went in and bought the coal stocks. all the coal stocks on. this wrong take away, people! coal's hostage to chinese demand more than u.s. use. that's not the case for the users of coal. the users, people. and that's why i said romney's giving you a heads up to buy american electric power and southern company, two coal building utilities that have to spend far less retrofitting facilities under romney staffed epa. i would be a seller of the consol energies and the peabodies in the strength. i take down union pacific. it is the carrier of clean coal. i would never recommend a company on this show with bad fundamentals. but they can be justified even with this sitting president. the pure coal plays are faltering funda

exception right now, though, as we welcome president obama and governor romney. [ cheers and applause ] >> jim. >> gentlemen, welcome to you both. let's start, the economy, segment 1, and let's begin with jobs. what are the major differences between the two of you about how you would go about creating new jobs? you have two minutes, each of you have two minutes to start. a coin toss has determined mr. president, you go first. >> well, thank you very much, jim, for this opportunity. i want to thank governor romney and the university of denver for your hospitality. there are a lot of points i want to make tonight, but the most important one is that 20 years ago i became the luckiest man on earth because michelle obama agreed to marry me. and so i just want to wish, sweetie, you happy anniversary and let you know that a year from now we will not be celebrating it in front of 40 million people. you know, four years ago we went through the worst financial crisis since the great depression. millions of jobs were lost. the auto industry was on the brink of collapse. the financial system had

right now. one of the things i suspect governor romney and i probably agree on is getting businesses to work with community colleges so that they're setting up their training programs -- >> do you agree, governor? >> let me just finish the point. i suspect there will be -- >> my state, by the way. >> where they're partnering so that -- they're designing training programs and people who are going through them know that there's a job waiting for them if they complete it. that makes a big difference. but that requires some federal support. let me just say one final example. when it comes to making college affordable, whether it's two-year or four-year, one of the things that i did as president was we were sending $60 billion to banks and lenders as middlemen for the student loan program. even though the loans were guaranteed. so there was no risk for the banks or the lenders. but they were taking billions out of the system. and we said why not cut out the middleman? and as a consequence what we've been able to do is provide millions more students assistance, lower or keep low interest r

did you think? >> 320,000 employees, david cuts right to the matter. maybe there should be 220,000 employees. obviously, there were no questions that were substantively answered. that's okay. romney doesn't answer substantive questions. obama doesn't answer substantive questions. whitman doesn't answer substantive questions. i get that. three politicians, three answers that you don't really get to challenge them. >> the difference is we see the impact immediately, like now. like down 1.5%. i mean, investors don't have a reason to be in. she sort of admitted it, you know, if you think that hewlett-packard is going to be okay in three years, then that's where you want to be. two to three years, we don't know where we'll be in two to three years. >> i thought it was a bit of a kodak moment, frankly. >> really? because that's a loaded -- >> that's damning. >> a lot of people would say that's a loaded comment. >> i've been telling people to sell this thing nine ways to sunday ever since hurd left. she didn't slight hurd like in the maria interview. i will come back and say i always

feel you were disrespected by president obama and governor romney? >> i didn't expect much. >> they worried that he was treated like a doormat was part of the possibility. >> yeah. they both kind of ran right over him. give me more time. i'm going to continue. jim didn't seem to have a lot of control in the debate. >> it's hard, though, rob. >> it's intimidating. how do you tell the president, how do you control that? has to be a better way. other people have done a better way. i don't think other moderators, whether it's our own martha raddatz or candy crowley, i think you would have seen a different tone. >> should have considered simon cowell. for this role. exactly. >> exactly. >> who was on -- >> jim, 12th, perhaps final. >>> real quick news here. j-lo in paris for fashion week, sporting a huge rock. couldn't get the picture -- couldn't afford it. spent all money on tacos. a huge rock. rumors she will marry caspar smart, backup dancer, rocking a big ring at the show. apparently husband number 18 could be on the way for jennifer lopez. lopez. could be on the way for jen
